LEARN ABOUT FAMILY COURT SERVICES (FCS) MEDIATION
When parties have a dispute regarding custody and visitation, they are required to participate in a Child Custody Recommending Counseling session, also referred to as Mediation, prior to a court hearing. These sessions occur at Family Court Services (FCS).
Lynn Waldman, LCSW, can prepare you for your FCS session with firsthand knowledge of this process.
After working as a Mediator with FCS for eight years, Lynn understands how stressful and difficult it can be to attend one of these sessions. Based upon her experience, Lynn can help you come up with a parenting plan, even in the most complex situations, that works best for you and your family. You will also learn what questions you most likely will be asked during your FCS session, how to propose your parenting plan, how to bring up concerns you may have about your co-parent and how to respond to concerns your co-parent may have about you. You’ll will also gain skills in remaining calm, tolerating the distress of a stressful situation, and most importantly, how to be effective with very little time to discuss co-parenting.
As a previous Family Court Counselor, Lynn will prepare you for this process by role playing an actual FCS session, answering questions, and providing you with suggestions to help make your FCS session more successful.
